Mallipuram Jagadish

Mallipuram Jagadish (Full name: Mallipuram Jagadishwara Rao) hails from P. Aamiti, a tribal village in Gummalakshmipuram Mandal, Parvathipuram Manyam district. He holds M.A. degrees in English and Telugu, along with a B.Ed., and works as an English teacher at the Gurukulam Ashram High School in Kurupam under the Tribal Welfare Department. His first story Aksharala Daarilo appeared in 2000, followed by acclaimed collections like 'Shilakola', 'Guri', and 'Adavi Poola Daarilo'. His poetry collection is 'Durla'. Jagadish’s writings focus on the existence and struggles of Adivasi communities. His works have been the subject of M.Phil. and Ph.D. research and are included in Andhra University curricula and school textbooks. He has received prestigious awards including the Ugadi Award (2017), Gidugu Literary Award (2017), and Rachakonda Viswanatha Sastry Award (2024). Several stories have been translated into English and Hindi and featured in anthologies like "The Best Stories of Our Times – Telugu"
