Sheela Tomy

Sheela Tomy is a celebrated novelist and short-story writer from Wayanad, Kerala. Her debut novel, Valli, won the Cherukad Award for Malayalam Literature (2021). Its English translation by Dr. Jayasree Kalathil received the V. Abdulla Memorial Translation Award (2023), the FICCI Book of the Year Award for Translation (2023), and was shortlisted for the ALTA National Translation Award (2023), JCB Prize for Literature (2022), Atta Galatta-BLF Book Prize (2022), and GreenLitFest Honour Books Award (2023).
Sheela is also the author of the short story collection Melquiadesnte Pralayapusthakam (2012) and her latest novel Aa Nadiyodu Peru Chodikkaruth won the Muthukulam Parvathy Amma Literature Prize and Maniyoor Balan Novel Award (2024).
Her short stories have earned multiple awards, including the Abu Dhabi Arangu Award, Puzha.com Short Story Award, Doha Sanskriti and Samanwayam Awards, and Kamala Surayya ‘Neermathalam’ Award. With a postgraduate degree in journalism and mass communication, she has worked as a lyricist, radio scriptwriter, and literary reviewer, residing in the Middle East for over two decades.
